Commissioned by the Association of Texas Small School Bands for their 2003 All-State Band, this piece is an extremely dramatic, highly expressive work. Like many of James Barnes’ less technically challenging compositions, the piece retains its musical integrity and remains musically challenging. It is carefully scored and cross-cued so that almost any band can perform it.
