This arrangement comes from the middle movement of an earlier Ewazen work, “Ballade, Pastorale and Dance” for flute, Horn in F and piano. The 2nd movement, “Pastorale” has a gentle and impressionistic feel, with long, beautiful and personal songs sung by both the trumpet and trombone.
