Description:
The title of this composition is taken from the motto of Northwestern University (from Philippians 4:8). The common thematic thread in all three sections is the varied employment of that school’s alma mater hymn, the famous “St. Anthony Chorale”. “Whatsoever Things…” was commissioned by the Revelli Foundation for the 1997 Honor Band of America as the inaugural commission of the Paynter Project. It is dedicated to the memory of John P. Paynter (1928-1996).
