Duration: 4 minutes

Description: Originally composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840–1893) as the second movement of his Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, the Canzonetta provides a moment of lyrical repose between the concerto’s brilliant outer movements. Marked by its song-like melody, the music reveals Tchaikovsky’s gift for creating deeply emotional musical narratives through seemingly simple melodic lines. Harry Gee’s arrangement for alto saxophone is perfect for the intermediate player.
