Pastoral Nocturne

This piece was commissioned by Robert Bazzel, Director of Bands at Sterling High School in Runnemede, New Jersey, in memory of Jennifer Persia, clarinetist and Captain of the Color Guard in the marching band. The outer sections of serve as an elegy, while the center section has a march-like quality. This composition encompasses many of the emotions that remain from this tragedy, both the joy and the energy of Jennifer’s life and the sadness and despair that many continue to feel.
